    Motion Gestures is a Canadian startup which aims to provide cutting-edge machine learning-based gesture recognition software. Gesture recognition potentially represents the next big wave in human-machine interaction after voice recognition and is expected to have significant growth.

    Motion Gestures is a Propel(x) alumni company which closed fundraising through the platform in November 2020.
    Bactana is commercializing products derived from naturally occurring bacteria strains to potentially develop safe and effective alternatives for antibiotics and hormone therapies for companion animals and livestock.

    Tandem PV is commercializing mechanically-stacked tandem photovoltaic (PV) solar panels, allowing solar energy systems to potentially be 50% more efficient, 20-40% lower in installed cost, and scalable at low capital costs.*

    Here is what caught our attention over the past two weeks.
      Deep Tech Global Landscape Reports
       Istanbul Development Agency, Teknopark Istanbul, and Cube Incubation, Turkey’s first and
       only incubation center focused on deep technologies released a deep dive report titled 'Deep       Technology Entrepreneurship in the World and Turkey.' According to the report, global                   investment in deep technologies has exploded in recent years, rising by 20 percent from 2015
     
       to 2018, when it reached a whopping $18 billion.

       The report also notes that the US and China collectively account for some 80 percent of all             global investment in deep technologies.

      The University of Chicago's Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation released a              special Deep Tech Deep Dive report recently during the first-ever DeepTechU conference. 

      The report also features research from University of Chicago Booth School of Business                     Professor, Steven Neil Kaplan who provides key insights into how venture capitalists evaluate         entrepreneurs.
