Considering the buzz around alternatives in the current environment, we wrote a blog post on how investing in commodities can be a potential hedge against inflation.

According to the National Venture Capital Association, venture funding in the U.S. reached a record $332.8 billion in 2021. However, only 2.3% of VC funding went to companies founded by women. Our content partner ranked the top 15 states with the most venture capital investments in woman-led startups using data from PitchBook. Additionally, we highlight the woman-led startups which raised financing through Propel(x) including an exit.

Lastly, we had an educational webinar in early September on QSBS Tax Exemption which was well received. For those interested, you can still watch the webinar replay.

WEBINAR REPLAYS
Did you know that when an individual receives stock in the company—whether it is a founder who gets founder stock, an employee who exercises stock options, or an investor who purchases preferred stock, they may potentially eliminate tax on all or a large portion of their gain when they sell. Many startup founders who are unaware of the existence and benefits of QSBS may be missing out on potential savings.

While startup equity can qualify for long-term capital gains, certain rules allow investors to go a step further and can qualify for an even more preferential U.S. tax treatment e.g. potentially up to 100% tax-free gains subject to certain conditions.

We hosted a panel discussion where we discussed the golden circle model – what, how and why of QSBS Tax Exemption for both investors and founders.
