I run Propel(x) - an angel investment platform which has enabled transactions for hundreds of angel investors. Given the business we are in, I often get asked the question - "How much money do I really need to become an angel?" Here are some thoughts. Great overview, very clear!
What about LP opportunities in SPV's, syndicates or micro funds? ...but to answer your question, I'd say that $5k is the minimum as an Angel.

2ySuccinct and clear Swati. Interesting to see that this arithmetic hasn't changed since the turn of the century (and a fair bit before). That said, the typical investment per person per deal in an Angel group seems to have dropped closer to $10k. I wonder if that is at least partly influenced by the many platforms like yours that promote these more granular investments. It is certainly making the funding of decent sized seed rounds harder and more expensive through the Angel group model. Curious to have your perspective?
